Spotlight: HALO, "Fever"

I think to a degree a lot of us veteran K-poppers feel a little bit bombarded by the number of entrants to the industry over recent years, and we know that it's kind of difficult to get attached too quickly because a significant portion of new groups will wind up disbanding. However, I would never ever join the camp of people who say that new groups should stop debuting unless they are from a big label. We get a lot of gems from smaller companies, and if they can fight for their survival without raking in massive amounts of money, why shouldn't they? Companies should be sure that their groups are able and ready to compete before debuting them, but other than that, I still think these groups have a place in the industry.

One of my favorite new groups is HALO, who came out with their debut single "FEVER" last week. Their dancing is by far what struck me the most, but their sound is also quite good on both their single and mini album. We have a lot of groups trying to start off hip-hip these days because that's what's "in," so I like to hear groups going back to this kind of poppy but still polished sound. They do, of course, have plenty of work ahead of them, but I hope they push through and make it, since I see a lot of potential in their team!
